The world of work is changing rapidly, and the future of work requires new approaches. At a time when working models such as home office and hybrid work are gaining importance, the Adlershof Technology Park is presenting an innovative concept: ST3AM. This new work environment at the future-oriented Adlershof site will provide companies with a platform that adapts to current requirements. The ST3AM working environment promotes creative, interdisciplinary, and collaborative work in an exclusive and inspiring atmosphere. Modern premises are available at around 3,000 square meters, offering a novel symbiosis of maker, working, and convention space.

ST3AM: More Than Just a Co-Working Space

ST3AM, named after the well-known STEM concept, extended to include “Arts,” which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. The “3” symbolizes the triad of technology, talent, and tolerance. The aim is to create a working environment that promotes interdisciplinary work while also meeting the individual needs of employees. This includes quiet work areas as well as zones for exchange and collaboration.

Zones for Every Work Requirement

The ST3AM building offers various zones to meet different needs. The “Maker Space” on the ground floor, for example, offers an area for creative and craft work. People interested in technology and young companies will find state-of-the-art technology here to develop and test new applications and projects. Integrated VR/AR studios and various 3D printers provide a creative test environment for digital projects. In addition, the Maker Space provides the necessary machines for working with materials such as metal, wood, polymers, etc. This prototyping area also serves to spark enthusiasm for technology and new working and innovation methods in children and young people.

The first floor features areas for focused work and the “Mind Spa,” a retreat for mental relaxation. This zone is designed to prevent burnout and enable employees to maintain their performance in the long term. Fischer-Bohn emphasizes the need to train managers to support and tolerate these recovery periods.

ST3AM: More Than Just a Co-Working Space

The social areas, with lounges, swings, and coffee corners, are characterized by an intelligent design that supports privacy while creating a sense of belonging and community. The atmosphere here is pleasant, encouraging people to interact and engage in creative processes.

WISTA Academy in ST3AM: A Space for Lifelong Learning

Diversity, in all its different meanings, is essential for solving major challenges. Therefore, education throughout the entire lifespan and tolerance are also important topics. The WISTA Academy offers a wide range of professional development and qualification opportunities. The WISTA Academy, located in the same building, offers further training opportunities and promotes the exchange and development of employees. Several rooms are dedicated to masterclasses, which are used by trainers to help people and companies succeed.

A Pilot Project with Scientific Support

ST3AM is not only designed to impress with its innovative layout but also to have a long-term positive effect on the quality of work and well-being of employees. To this end, the project is being scientifically monitored by the Humboldt University of Berlin. The results of these studies should help to continuously develop and optimize ST3AM. The project could also become a future-oriented model for other technology parks and companies worldwide.
